ASID California North sat down with her for a Q & A session on some of her favorites:

1. Three favorite travel destinations for design inspiration:

Berlin, Buenos Aires, Seville

2. Favorite Historical Residence & Garden:

Villa d’Este in Lake Como

3. Favorite museum

It’s a tie. In Madrid the Museo Sorolla – I love this artist’s work and his home is so personal and intimate. In Paris the Musée Nissim de Camondo – a historic house and decorative arts museum – is incredible.

4. Dream/Fantasy Dinner Party: who, where, and when?

I would bring together all of my passions in design and art, science and music. I would invite the designer, poet and artist William Morris, the biologist, author and mushroom expert Merlin Sheldrake, the neuroscientist and novelist Nicholas Bazan and the first woman to win the nobel prize, Marie Curie. It would be a Sunday afternoon at 3 pm at my Music Barn here on my Wine Country property. Lili Boulanger (who was a French composer and sister to Nadia Boulanger, who taught Aaron Copeland and many of the 20th century’s most noted composers) would perform.
