REGAN BAKER
With 20 years of experience in Interior Architecture and Design, Regan firmly believes that design should be comfortable, modern, and personal, and strives to bring these aspects to every project she works on.
When not designing, you can find Regan outdoors either running or watching her sporty kids, and hanging with family and friends. After becoming a mother of twins over twelve years ago, her life has taken on a new priority: to inspire her children to do what they love and go after a passion in life. Regan laughs often, becomes friends with all her clients, and has a goal in life to be a nice person.
ASID California North sat down with her for a Q & A session on some of her favorites:
1. Favorite Hotel?
Local
The new fave is San Francisco Proper. The lobby and restaurant are so good, but I really love the Santa Monica Proper hotel!
International
These days I prefer to book a One Fine Stay property because it’s more personal and private, but you also get to live in a home where people actually live, and learn intimately about the details!

2. Favorite Musuem?
Local – Too many!
Kids – Bay Area Discovery Museum. Recently redesigned by Olsen Kundig, it’s an incredible display of art and education for the wee ones and big kid adults.
SF Moma – Lichtenstein and classics like Calder, to the rotating exhibits. Always worth a visit for inspiration.
Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas). I visit every time I head home. They have some of the best art collections in my opinion, including one of their recent Donald Judd wood and stainless acquisition
International –
Versailles, so many details to learn from and apply

3. Favorite Garden?
Any garden surrounded by rolling hills, and natural vegetation. I love the way the Scribe Winery gardens naturally blend into the background, and their edible garden used for cooking.

4. Design Motto?
Less is more, but more in repetition can be incredible. It’s all in the details, and lighting can make or break a room.
5. Best Advice You’ve Ever Received?
Delegate| Hire what you aren’t good at.
6. Easiest Way To Transform A Room?
When in doubt paint it out. Paint is the easiest most cost effective way to transform a room, but wallpaper can really transform a room and be personal. Rugs are also a great starting point.

5. Biggest Vice?
Instagram, because I can always justify why it’s good for me and my business. Ha!
6. If I Wasn’t A Designer, I Would Be….
Set Decorator or Florist or professional athlete.
6. Ideal California Day?
Hanging in my backyard with my kids and husband after a full day of shopping.
