TRACY SIMMONS

INTERIOR DESIGN AND STYLING

Tracy Simmons is a San Francisco based interior designer who founded her eponymous firm in 2017. The proud San Francisco native is sought after for her fresh yet studied approach to tailored interiors which she intentionally blends with warm minimalism. Prior to founding her design studio, Simmons had the opportunity to work for and learn from some of the city’s most acclaimed architects and designers including Kendall Wilkinson Design, Studio SHK and Catherine Kwong Design.

For over a decade, Tracy has worked on interior design projects all over the San Francisco Bay Area, some of which have been featured in major publications such as Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, and House Beautiful, among others.

The House is an active design gallery featuring an ever-changing collection of ceramics, accessories, furniture, books and more. The House incorporates traditional elements like a marble fireplace, bleached wood herringbone flooring, high ceilings and cornicing in a way that feels relaxed, distressed and subdued. The core essence is a refined elegance that is tempered by neutral colors.

Tracy’s design perspective combines captivating restraint with warmth, embracing the innate luxury in simplicity.

Rooted in Californian design, The House is effortlessly elegant, intentionally curated and accentuated by the refinement of the old world. The space exudes subtle luxury, with soaring ceilings, grand windows and presents a quietly impressive facade on the corner of Presidio and Sacramento Street. The collection of items has been thoughtfully chosen by Simmons. The result is a spacious retail boutique that feels deceptively simple and invites the visitor to peruse leisurely to achieve that perfectly imperfect aesthetic for their home.

THE HOUSE

In 2019, Tracy launched The House, a retail boutique located in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood founded on the firm’s design ethos.

The collection includes ANK Ceramics hand-crafted tableware from Maine. Handmade clothing created with nature’s finest cashmere and silk from Lan Jaenicke. Clean lines and simple elegance can be found in the bespoke wood furniture by Jacob May and Duncan Oja. San Francisco resident Len Carella, creates one of a kind, high fire stoneware and porcelain sculptures with unexpected leather and cork details. Los Angeles based Sheldon Ceramics, creates hand-made glazed ceramics inspired by a rustic Vermont heritage. Parisian candle maker, Aieul, draws from ancient rituals combined with a modern ethos to deliver an anthropological perspective on scent.  Fiele fragrances use old world techniques to create scents that capture the elusive purity of nature’s most precious plant essences. Canadian wood turner, Elise Mclauchlan, creates objects for the home that are occasionally sculptural but primarily functional. Socially conscious Spanish brand Teixidor, combines the traditions of a strictly manual process with a vision of the future using classic wool looms and the finest raw materials such as Merino wool, cashmere and linen. Brooklyn based Two Tree Studio, hand makes one of a kind, minimalist wooden wares for the home and office. Mill Valley resident Bess Friday, has created her first fine art photography collection which will be exclusively available at The House. San Francisco fine jewelry brand, Harwell Godfrey will showcase their bold line of fine jewelry with aesthetic roots in ancient textiles and ethnic patterns handcrafted in 18k gold with precious gemstones and vidi enamel.

Tracy believes that honoring history, place, and architecture is at the heart of all good design.

Tracy is always looking to where she is from, San Francisco. As evidenced in the aesthetic of The House and her interior design work, Simmons believes that honoring history, place and architecture is the starting point of all good design. Tracy continues to celebrate and showcase talented makers, sharing their goods with her customers while also embedding their work in her designs.
